I also purchased this case in an ATT;T store. Boy that was a mistake. It certainly cost more than it would on Amazon and I wasn't able to inspect it before purchasing it. But I wanted instant protection for my 3G 16GB.
I've been pleased with the protection it provides and it fits very snugly in the case. The buttons and charge port are readily accessible. The silence switch is the only button that is not covered when the case is closed which is as it should be. The microphone and speaker are exposed which is good.
The major problem I have with this case is the velcro closure. Velcro is noisy in a quiet room and the barbed (rough) side of the velcro on the flap has already begun to fray the stitching that surrounds the soft side of the velcro on the face side. I've only been using it for a few days.
The leather is thicker than needed. The case does not add significant girth widthwise. However in terms of depth the size is nearly doubled. (The 3G iPhone is 1.2 cm deep (0.48") without the case; when the phone is in the case the width is 2.3 cm (0.94"). Width is a concern because you must carry this in your pocket or purse--since, there is no belt loop or clip.
Also for this reason, it would be nice if there were a loop to attach a lariat or tether to a wrist strap. But there isn't one. One could be improvised but that would be unsightly and of questionable utility.
Also, there is a pocket in the flap that is so tight you can barely fit only 2 business cards or a single credit card or ID in it.
If you have large fingers, you will find it difficult to access the virtual buttons on the edges of the screen without a stylus. When swiping left and right, you will continually run your finger into the leather that perfectly surrounds the touch screen making it harder to use the phone.
For the price, it is aesthetically pleasing (looks nice) but functionally, it leaves much to be desired.

This cover provies an excellent grip to my new iphone 3GS 32Gb, and provides good protection, safety nd doesnt hamper any functionality. i can charge, listem music through audio port, and do anything without having to take the phone out of cover. And of course, the looks of the phone get hidden upto some extent, which is true for any cover. for my last iphone 2G 16GB, i was more concerned about looks, so i got only a cover which was protecting the back of the phone, but front screen was not protected against shocks(though i had put up screeen protector for scracthes), but when i dropped the phone accidently, i had to pay for the broken screen !
this cover provides full protection, and ease of use at same time !
